Practice questions covering all 14 official DVSA theory test categories, from alertness to vehicle loading, with explanations so you actually understand the answer, not just memorise it.
Shared by driving instructors across the UK helping their students prepare
This free practice quiz gives UK learner drivers a simple way to check their knowledge before booking the real theory test. It contains 56 questions across 14 categories, from alertness and attitude through to documents, incidents and vehicle loading.
The questions cover the areas learners need to understand well, including road signs, hazard awareness, motorway rules, safety margins and keeping your vehicle safe to drive. After each answer, a short explanation shows why the correct option is right, so you learn the reasoning instead of simply memorising answers.
When you finish, your score is broken down by category, making it easy to spot the topics that need more revision. Use that breakdown alongside the Highway Code, which sets out the rules of the road you will be tested on, and revisit any weaker areas before your test.
Please remember these are original practice questions, not official DVSA exam questions. They are designed to support your revision, not replace it.
A few categories need more revision.
